“There is no one righteous, not even one.” Romans 3:10 (New International Version)
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23 (New Living Translation)
“Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity.” Habakkuk 1:13 (King James Version)
“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (Berean Study Bible)
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life..” Titus 3:5-7 (New King James Version)
God created us to have a relationship with Him, but sin separates us from God and prevents us from getting into Heaven. We have all sinned and have fallen short of His righteousness. Scripture tells us there is no goodness in within ourselves and there is nothing that we can do through our own efforts to get in right standing with Him. Scripture also tells us that no amount of human goodness, human works, human morality, or religious activity can ever make us holy and righteous in His standards. No other religious beliefs or philosophical thinking can save us, nor can trying to live a moral life fix the problem sin causes between God and man.
