- Kratos. Pronounced krat-os, this is found twelve times in the New Testament and translates to “dominion” and “strength” (see Strong’s 2904 [Greek]) and is frequently used as a direct reference to God Himself. It gets its origin from the Greek god of strength and power, Cratus (Kratos). Ephesians 6:10 says:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. (NKJV, italics added for emphasis)
Translated this means that we are to be strong in the Lord and in the dominion of His might! Kratos is the dominating life force of God Almighty Himself Who lives inside of you! Now look at Hebrews 2:14…one of my favorite scripture verses:
14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (NKJV, italics added for emphasis)
This verse talks about the dominion the devil used to have through death and the fear of death until Jesus came to destroy that dominion! Mediate on that for a moment, and let the Holy Spirit teach you something new out of that scripture!
Other scriptures to look up are Jude 25, Revelation 5:13, 1 Peter 4:11, Ephesians 1:19, and 1 Timothy 6:16.
